Together towards a carbon-neutral event

SUSTAINABILITY AT THE EU PVSEC

After the successful implementation of the Green Ticket in 2023, the EU PVSEC strives to continue its efforts to organise a carbon-neutral event.

It is a journey of responsibility and innovation, where every CO emission caused by the organisers, be it through the travel of our team, the choice of our accommodation or the logistics of our venue, is not only recorded but also conscientiously offset.
Our goal? To make the EU PVSEC a model of sustainable event management.

In short, the EU PVSEC puts a lot of effort into minimising its carbon footprint and will offset all emissions caused by the organisation of the event and its staff. These actions include:

Emission compensation for:

  • Venue
  • Energy & Waste management
  • Accommodation for the organiser
  • Mobility for the organiser
  • Material
  • Transport
  • Catering for participants & organiser

Further actions:

  • Green ticket
  • Less printed material
  • Recyclable cutlery and food packaging
  • Less plastic
  • Reusable sponsoring items
  • Focus on regionally sourced ingredients

Green Meeting Initiative

We aim at organising the event according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings.

Green Ticket

The Green Ticket is your opportunity to be a part of the sustainable journey. Join us and contribute your part towards a carbon neutral event. Take responsibility for your own carbon footprint and offset your emissions. By choosing this add-on, you're not just attending an event; you're actively supporting our climate protection efforts. With a compensation fee of 12 euros, you make a direct contribution to a portfolio of high-quality climate protection projects. These projects, curated in collaboration with Myclimate, fulfil strict standards such as the Gold Standard and Plan Vivo. They go beyond mere carbon reduction and bring about positive and sustainable change in communities and ecosystems.

Participants who purchase the Green Ticket will receive high visibility as a green visitor through a special green badge, indicating their contribution to the sustainable cause.

Why choose the Green Ticket?

  • Emission-neutral event visit through fixed-rate compensation of your CO₂ consumption
  • Support for sustainable, renowned climate protection projects
  • No additional effort compared to regular ticket purchase
  • High visibility as a green visitor through your Green Badge

The total net-amount of all Green Tickets, together with the contribution of the organiser, will be passed on directly to a portfolio of climate protection projects that meet the highest standards (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo):

These projects are reducing emissions in developing and emerging countries. The projects meet the highest standards, such as the Gold Standard in the field of energy, or Plan Vivo or VCS in the area of land usage, and contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). myclimate projects not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also contribute to the social, ecological and economic development in the region.

Climate Protection Efforts in 2023: Sustainability Certificate

We are delighted to present our 2023 Sustainability Certificate, which underlines our commitment to the environment. This certificate highlights our achievements in offsetting all carbon emissions caused by our organisational activities, complemented by the valuable contributions of our participants through the purchase of the Green Tickets.

Last year we launched our Green Tickets initiative, which enables participants to offset their carbon footprint alongside our own extensive efforts to minimise the conference's carbon emissions. This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting the use of renewable energy and protecting our environment.

As we prepare for this year’s event, we are committed to continuing our sustainability efforts and will offset our emissions once again.
