Online Event Platform going live

Dear PV professional,

The European PV Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition is getting closer. While we have started the uploading process of poster presentations, we would like to give you the chance to get familiar with the platform before the conference week. You can now log in to your user area and explore the different features of the event platform yourself. Sounds good? On top of that, we will now give you an exclusive update on the programme.

Opening Session

The opening session will be held on Monday morning at 8:30 (CEST) and is divided into 4 blocks.

Scientific Opening / Plenary Session 8:30 – 9:50

The scientific opening, will have four remarkable plenary presentations including, for the first time ever, a presentation from a Student Award Finalist.

Becquerel Prize Ceremony 10:00 – 10:30

The purpose of the prize is to honor outstanding merits in photovoltaics and was established by the European Commission in 1989.

This year’s winner receives the Becquerel Prize 2020 in honour of his ground-breaking work on solar cells based on organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite.

Curious who won? You came to the right place. This year’s Becquerel Prize winner is…

Opening Addresses 10:40 – 11:20

Next up will be the Opening Addresses. General Chair Prof. Nicola Pearsall will guide through this block that includes a presentation by Elias de Kayser titled “Virtual Power Plants for the transition to 100% renewable”. He will explain how a visionary business idea became one of the largest virtual power plants in Europe.

Panel Discussion 11:30 – 12:35

And finally, there is a Panel Discussion about the topic:

The role of PV in the Green Deal and the EU Recovery Package - Perspectives and chances for a sustainable future?

Energy-economic model calculations show that a climate-neutral economy can be achieved by 2050 through a complete transformation of the fossil-nuclear energy system to 100% renewable energies.

Follow our discussion to get answers to questions like: Are the sectoral measures of the European Green Deal sufficient to achieve decarbonisation? How does a 100% supply of renewable energies already work at regional level today? What can be derived from this for the big picture?

The panellists for this exciting topic will be:

  • Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO SolarPower Europe
  • Dr. Gunter Erfurt, CEO Meyer Burger Technology AG
  • Prof. Marko Topič, Chair of ETIP PV
  • Paolo Rossi, Director of AEM SA

ᅠᅠᅠ The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Heinz Ossenbrink, Member of the EU PVSEC Executive Committee.

As a special treat this year, the opening session will be broadcast live and freely accessible on Youtube.

We would like to give all interested people the opportunity to follow the start of Europe's largest PV solar energy event.

Follow the EU PVSEC Youtube Channel now and don’t miss out on upcoming news.

Closing Session Award Shows

At the end of the conference week, during the closing session, there will be two more awards ceremonies.

Student Awards

Following the success of the 36th EU PVSEC and to encourage high-quality work amongst young researchers, the Student Awards will be delivered in recognition of the most remarkable and outstanding research work in the field of PV.

Only a handful of winners will be selected from our 15 student award finalists.

Poster Awards

The EU PVSEC Poster Awards aim to encourage and to give additional recognition to high quality contributions that combine novelty and excellence in scientific content in their presentation. A total of 15 presenters will be awarded, one from each visual session.

The ceremony of the annual awards for the most outstanding visual presentations will take place during the Closing Session on Friday, 11 September 2020.

On Thursday, 10 September 2020, we will have a special poster award winner session.

Follow the live poster sessions and use your own judgement. Which poster presentation will be your highlight?
