Message from the Technical Programme Chairpersons

It gives us much pleasure to present you the Technical Programme for this 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion, which will be held in Valencia, Spain.

Bringing together the PV community from all over the world, was a specific challenge for the Scientific Committee. All the members and we were committed to bring to you a truly world-wide insight in not only scientific results but also the wider perspective on policies seeking to establish photovoltaic solar energy as a robust share in the renewable electricity mix. As the EU member states are about to finalize their National Renewable Energy Action Plans, this edition of the Conference will be a key event to review the progress of photovoltaic solar energy, and the crucial role it is going to play when Europe wants to achieve its target of 20% energy supplied by renewable sources.

In Europe, in the United States and in Asia photovoltaics is close to a true breakthrough. For this reason, the coordinators were seeking to highlight plenary presentations which can outline a vision, what PV will look like in 2020, in regards to technology, economy and application.

We hope that our selection from the many high quality papers we received provides the Conference with the wide spectrum of topics, knowledge and recent research results you will expect from this truly international event.

We look forward to meeting you in Valencia in order to present, listen and discuss the latest developments in Photovoltaics.
