IEA PVPS Workshop
PV in Tomorrow’s Electricity Grids: Problem or Panacea? - Joint workshop of Tasks 1 and 14, IEA PVPS Programme.
Over the next decade, strong growth is expected in both consumer demand for PV (as a consequence of reaching grid parity) and growing utility PV interests (from large-scale utility plants to ownership and financing options with select customers to various power purchase models). And, beyond concerns about the ability of electricity networks to accept large amounts of PV electricity, from a business perspective the role of the electricity utilities is likely to become much more important for PV over time.
Part of this development in the near to medium term will, without a doubt, be integrated with an increased focus on a more intelligent electricity value chain (especially between network and customer applications), the widespread deployment of emerging electricity storage technologies and new markets for electricity such as charging of electric vehicles. These issues will provide benefits, opportunities and challenges for the management of electricity networks.
Join this workshop being organized by the IEA PVPS Programme to consider what may lie ahead and what technical and demonstration bridges need to be crossed to achieve a significant penetration of PV.
Organiser: IEA PVPS Day: 9 September 2010 Time: 13:30 – 17:30 Site: Room 4f / Conference Centre
