35th EU PVSEC 2018 Detailed Conference Programme & Outline available

180507 EU PVSEC 2018 Conference Programme OutlineConference Programme 2018 – with almost 1,000 high-level presentations from all over the world, the programme is offering both a world-class overview and in-depth insights to the latest research in the PV solar energy sector.

The international Conference programme is structured in plenary, oral and visual presentations and covers the entire range of PV research, technologies and applications, focusing on the latest scientific, technological and market-related trends.

The abstracts received have been reviewed and scored by the EU PVSEC Scientific Committee made up of more than 200 renowned PV research and industry experts from the global PV sector. To guarantee the quality of the programme, each abstract has been scored by three independent reviewers before the topic organisers met in April 2018 in Brussels to select the plenary, oral and visual presentations.

Chairman's Message

It is my great honour and great pleasure to invite you to attend the next EU PVSEC to be held for the first time in my home town, the beautiful city of Brussels, the capital and the heart of Europe.  The EU PVSEC has always been for me a special event where we are updated on all aspects of the latest photovoltaic technology developments, as well as on other topics such as new policies, market trends, social and educational impacts. Over the last 4 decades, the EU PVSEC has been for me an important forum, source of inspiration, a week of fruitful reflection on my work and a time to meet friends and colleagues from all over the world.

As a PV scientist, this is my goal and my mission. I would like to share this journey with you. I look forward to seeing you at the EU PVSEC 2018 in Brussels. Together, let’s send a message to the governments and to the world that PV is taking its responsibilities and its role very seriously. The world needs you!

Dr. Pierre Verlinden
EU PVSEC Conference General Chairman
Director at Amrock Pty Ltd
Visiting Professor at Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China

Welcome from the host country

Belgium and the City of Brussels are very pleased and honored to host the EU PVSEC 2018!

Electricity generation from the Sun is one of the key technologies to realize the transition to a sustainable Energy system with a large share of renewables. This conviction is subject to a growing consensus amongst the different policy levels in Belgium and the Regions. Since 2 years we see again a healthy expansion of the PV-market in Belgium and it is often forgotten that the amount of installed PV/inhabitant in our country is amongst the highest in Europe. Therefore we are more than ever convinced: PV is here to stay and flourish further.

Belgium has a great tradition in organizing top-level exchange meetings between scientists– remind the famous Solvay Conferences in the early days of the 20th century where famous scientists like Einstein, Bohr, ... were discussing in depth the new insights in physics which would revolutionize science. From the early phases of photovoltaic energy deployment the scientific and technological aspects were supported by leading institutes in Belgium and the EU PVSEC 2018 is the perfect place for them to showcase this pioneering role and to interact with their partners and competitors. Therefore we look forward to the exchange of exciting developments in PV science, technology and applications and all related topics, between stakeholders from all over the world. We hope to see you here from 24 to 28 September 2018 in Brussels in an atmosphere where the useful is combined with the pleasant, another Belgian characteristic!

Prof. Jef Poortmans
Director [email protected]
R&D Strategy Coordinator of EnergyVille
